Thuthuka is dedicated to supplying our customers with seed packs from South Africa and in particular plant species found in the Western Cape. Our indigenous packs include protea, restio, healing plants and a strelitzia named in honour of Nelson Mandela, Mandela’s Gold. All packs come with detailed growing instructions and smoke primer, where needed, to aid germination. Our range of books, supplied by Kirstenbosch Gardens, provide additional information on all aspects of growing some of these spectacular plants.
Zululand Indigenous Tree Seed
After two years of planning we have teamed up with Sonqandile Enviro CC and now have 6 packs of Indigenous seed from Zululand. The packs not only contain growing and aftercare instructions but also have traditional uses for the plants. These range from furniture making to remedies for heart burn. To read more about the seed and the Zululand Trees for Life project please use the link below.
During 2006 we have made several changes to our range. The latest being our full range of Safari Poo Planters has been taken over by The Exotic Paper Company Ltd. Our links page has a link to their web site where you will find a range of elephant poo products.
Our new web site www.safarikzn.com, which has grown from regular visits and a passion for exploring, is working well and the hit count is continuing to rise. At present we only cover the province of Kwa-Zulu Natal but here you will find a wealth of natural biodiversity, from proteas in the Drakensberg Mountains to elephants in the lush sub-tropical bush of Zululand.
If you are in London you will find our range of seed at Kew Gardens. And if you are looking for your nearest retailer please contact us. Otherwise please order on-line through our safe shopping area.
Thuthuka in the Zulu language means to grow from small to big. We hope to inspire you to grow something South African.
